Morning winds restrict Bay Bridge operations; brief westbound backup
Winds of 30-39 mph prevented two-way operations, with warnings posted from 5:41 to 9:20 a.m. Overnight roadwork closed the eastbound span, leaving one lane each way on the westbound span and its center lane closed. At 4:50 p.m., a 0.6-mile westbound backup reached Exit 37 (Route 8), clearing by 5:05 p.m.; afternoon lanes were three eastbound and two westbound until two-way traffic ended at 7:01 p.m. Separate Severn River Bridge delays reached Exit 27, about half a mile away, in both directions at 5:05 p.m. and again at 6:31 p.m.
