Afternoon crash restricts westbound lanes, delays hit both directions
At 4:06 PM, a crash had closed the two left westbound lanes, leaving only the right lane open. By 4:46 PM, three lanes were open eastbound and two westbound, but backups reached 3 miles eastbound at Exit 29B (Cape St. Clair Road) and 3.2 miles westbound at Exit 39B (MD 552/Dominion Road). Earlier, eastbound backups reached 3.5 miles at Exit 29A (Bush Frontage Road) at 1:46 PM. Travel peaked at 23 minutes eastbound in the noon hour and westbound in the 4 PM hour; bridge delays cleared by 6:01 PM.
