Evening road work backs up eastbound traffic 2.5 miles to Exit 30
Eastbound backups reached 2.5 miles to Exit 30 (Bayhead Road) from 8:55 to 9:21 p.m.; peak travel time was 17 minutes. Road work closed the eastbound bridge, leaving one lane each way on the westbound bridge, with its center lane closed as a buffer. The queue shrank to 1.5 miles at Exit 31 (Whitehall Road) at 9:31 p.m. and cleared by 10:01 p.m. Earlier, a 1-mile backup at Exit 32 (Sandy Point) at 2:31 p.m. cleared by 2:45 p.m., when three lanes were open eastbound and two westbound.
