Saturday Westbound Backups Peak at 2.5 Miles Near Castle Marina Road
Saturday travel began with a brief one-mile eastbound delay at Exit 32 (Sandy Point) around 7:52 a.m. that cleared quickly. Heavy afternoon congestion shifted to the westbound direction, where backups peaked at 2.5 miles from Exit 39a (Castle Marina Road) at 1:21 p.m. and persisted near 1.8 miles until clearing at 4:56 p.m. By 11:46 p.m., the eastbound bridge was closed for roadwork, requiring two-way traffic to share the westbound span with only one lane open in each direction.
